Virgin River’s Mel star looks completely different as actor shares throwback snap
VIRGIN RIVER star Alexandra Breckenridge took to social media to share a throwback photo of herself looking completely unrecognisable.

With fans eagerly anticipating the release of Netflix’s Virgin River season four, the star of the show is keeping fans entertained. As well as sharing funny behind the scene videos from the set on Instagram, this time Alexandra Breckenridge who played Mel Monrow shared a throwback snap from her teenage years.

Breckenridge burst into the spotlight in 2019 when she landed the role of Mel Monroe in the romantic series, Virgin River.

Viewers have been on quite the journey with the character throughout the series and she has easily become a fan-favourite.

While the Netflix streamers continue to wait out delays, the actress remained interactive with her fans and posted a throwback snap for her teenage years.

Breckenridge looked completely different as she sported a tie-dye t-shirt with patterned jeans in a go-cart.

Although the actress’ teenage self looked unimpressed, she captioned the photo: “Sundays. Am I right?”

While Breckenridge didn’t reveal how old she was in the photo, clues from the fashion and the Wildcat go-kart hint the snap was likely to have been taken during the ’90s.

As the 39-year-old actress played a beloved character in Virgin River, throughout her career Breckenridge has made an appearance in a number of shows with a household name.

She first appeared on screens in 2002 and has since starred in the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI, Dawson’s Creek and American Horror Story.

Breckenridge also ventured into films and movies, where she landed roles in She’s the Man, Jack Rabbit and Rings.

However, more recently, it’s her role as Mel Monroe which has propelled her into becoming a household name, alongside her love interest Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).

While the couple will be back on screen in the summer, Breckenridge did share a disappointing update about season five of Virgin River.

She revealed fans may have to wait a while longer for an update as production was halted for reasons unknown.

The actress shared the news on Instagram stories in January, she revealed: “We were supposed to start [filming] in March, but it was pushed so… I don’t know. I don’t know man.

“I’m hoping that maybe we’ll start in the summer. It would be nice to film in Vancouver in the summer rather than the winter.”

She went on to explain her reasons and added: “To be quite frank with you guys, I’m pretty done filming in Vancouver in the winter. Not really interested in doing that ever again, actually.

“It’s really cold. And when you’re standing outside in sandals, and little outfits because it’s supposed to be the middle of summer… not awesome!”

Nevertheless, fans are still looking forward to watching Virgin River season four when it finally lands on Netflix to find out the fate of their favourite characters after the explosive finale.

Many wondered if Mel and Jack would stay together after she decided to get inseminated with her dead’s husband’s baby, while she was on a break with Jack.

Elsewhere, Henderson shared an exciting production update for season four, the actor posted a selfie recording a voice over with a screen showing Mel in the background.

Alongside the caption: “Back at work…getting season 4 good and ready for consumption,” which suggest the final touches are being added to the series.
