ITV take another show off air this week as fans hit out at schedule shake-up

Fans of Loose Women will be left disappointed when they switch on their tellies for the next episode of the daytime programme, only to find it’s been dropped for the next two days. The show, which usually airs every weekday from 12:30pm until 1:30pm, has been cancelled on Wednesday, June 19, and Thursday, June 20.

Instead, viewers will be met with the ITV lunchtime news, running for half an hour, followed by coverage of the UEFA tournament at 1pm on both days. ITV will air the match between Croatia and Albania, kicking off at 2pm. On the following days, fans can catch the showdown between Slovenia and Serbia, also starting at 2pm.

Since the Euros kicked off in Germany last Friday, ITV has seen a number of changes. The broadcaster announced that both Emmerdale and Coronation Street were cut on Monday evening, with Austria vs France taking their place.

However, two episodes of Emmerdale will be shown back-to-back on Tuesday evening and Coronation Street will follow straight after at 8pm. In addition, both Tipping Point and The Chase have been pulled off air today, with Royal Ascot filling their usual 4pm and 5pm slots, reports the Express.

Soap fans are up in arms over ITV’s decision to shuffle the schedule for football, with many taking to social media to vent their frustration. One viewer suggested a simple fix: “Put Corrie and Emmerdale on ITV2 then, no biggie is it? “.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, questioning the network’s strategy: “Why can’t @ITV do what BBC have done. Football on BBC1 and other popular programmes ie Casualty they have put on BBC2. So those of us that hate football can watch our usual programmes. You could do this with Emmerdale and Coronation Street.”

The confusion continued as one person pointed out the early start time for football coverage: “@ITV please explain why the football coverage starts at 6.30pm but kick-off isn’t until 8pm.”

The annoyance was palpable as another chimed in: “Please just stop this football nonsense at prime time! Men or women makes no difference – the majority of us just do NOT want it on when we could be watching #Corrie or #Emmerdale – put it on #ITV2 or #ITV3… #JUSTNO #ITVDONOTCARE.”

A fellow disgruntled viewer didn’t hold back: “Why can’t you put emmerdale and Corrie on itv2.”
