Former EastEnders boss had no idea child star was Lacey Turner’s sister

We’ve known Lacey Turner for years as the iconic Stacey Slater in EastEnders, but did you know her sister also featured in the BBC One soap?

While many have wondered if Lacey and her onscreen daughter Lillia Turner are related (spoiler alert, they’re not,) her actual sister Lily Harvey appeared in the show where she played the role of Shenice Quinn in 40 episodes from 2011 to 2012.Former EastEnders character Shenice, played by Lily Harvey

Shenice was the daughter of Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) friend Martina Quinn (Tamara Wall). Martina had a drinking problem and Kat and Alfie (Shane Richie) bonded with Shenice who had had a difficult life because of her mother’s behaviour.

Lily was nine years old when she joined the cast of EastEnders and used her mum’s surname for her acting career, which meant producer at the time Bryan Kirkwood failed to realise the connection to Lacey when he watched an audition tape of her!

‘Whether by accident or design I sat down and watched a tape of a very talented young girl. And it was only after we decided that I was told it was Lacey’s sister. So it was a complete accident’, he previously said.

While Lily is mainly focusing on her musical career, she’s still acting and appears alongside former EastEnders stars Michelle Ryan (who played Zoe Slater from 2000 to 2005) and Kierston Wareing (who played Kirsty Branning) in the drama Dragged Up Dirty.

Most recently in EastEnders, life has been considerably quiet for Stacey Slater after involvement in The Six over Christmas and the New Year.

While Stacey wasn’t responsible for killing Keanu Taylor, she was present in the Queen Vic pub when the murder took place, which meant she worked with Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Suki (Balvinder Sopal) and Denise (Diane Parish) to dispose of the body.

After Keanu was buried under the floorboards of the cafe, Stacey did face her own emotional struggles but found comfort in the arms of Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

They began an affair behind Denise’s back, who’s mental health was under great strain as she experienced PTSD and hallucinations surrounding Keanu’s demise.
