EastEnders legend undergoes surgery after suffering ‘years of excruciating pain’

EastEnders icon Jessie Wallace revealed she has undergone surgery after struggling with ‘excruciating pain’.

The Kat Slater actress, 52, shared a picture of her bandaged foot postoperative and told her followers: ‘Thank you RNOHT for my my Silastic Arthroplasty.

‘After years of excruciating pain I am FREE!’

The surgical procedure replaces some of the joints in her feet with an artificial joint.

Jessie’s post was met with support from her EastEnders co-stars including her former onscreen hubby Shane Ritchie (Alfie Moon).

He joked: ‘After all our years together I never knew that all your piggies literally f**ked off to the market!’

A fan page dedicated to all things Kat and Alfie replied: ‘Hope you have a speedy recovery hun.’

While @scottyjim81 added: ‘Good on ya Jessie. I thought it was caused by giving Phil Mitchell an a** kicking.’

It’s not clear what condition led to Jessie’s surgery, but we do know her soap alter ego Kat is always rocking a pair of heels.Kat Slater in a car lot in EastEnders

This comes after Jessie posted a loved up selfie on Instagram with her carpenter fiancé Justin Gallwey, 51.

‘My love @justin_gallwey,’ she captioned the post.

Jessie confirmed she was engaged to the carpenter last February after being seen wearing a gold band on her ring finger while out and about.

Despite having known each other since they were teens the couple dated for a year before Justin proposed.

Jessie and Justin have been planning to have their wedding this year.

Jessie, who has been on EastEnders since 2000, was previously engaged to Vincent Morse, with the pair set to tie the knot in 2011 before the wedding was called off at the last minute.

She shares daughter Tallulah, 19, with ex Dave Morgan.

The soap star has been busy on EastEnders as of late, with chemistry starting to develop between Kat and ex Alfie Moon.

Though they are both currently single and recently co-habited, Kat has made it quite clear that they are nothing more than friends, much to Alfie’s disappointment.

Alfie isn’t the only one who wants them to reunite, with son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) previously encouraging him to tell Kat how he truly feels.

Following Alfie’s battle with prostate cancer, Tommy urged him to fight for what he really wanted, having battled so hard to survive. But whether or not the former lovers will reunite remains to be seen!
