EastEnders fans were left stunned after they ‘spotted a soap legend’ in a behind-the-scenes photo.

Back in 1993, villain David Wicks (Michael French) made his explosive entrance. The rogue arrived at his father Pete Beale’s funeral and quickly became one of the most recognisable faces on the show.

As Walford’s infamous womaniser, David was embroiled in numerous major storylines. From fathering multiple children to engaging in violent altercations, his stint on the show was anything but dull.

He even nearly had a fling with Bianca Jackson – until he discovered she was actually his daughter. Actor Michael French eventually departed in 1996, leaving fans devastated.

But the rogue made a sensational return to the soap over a decade later in 2012. David reunited with estranged partner Carol only to suffer a heart attack at their wedding, reports the Mirror.

And in 2014, he bid farewell to Walford, and Carol, to embark on a new life in America. The character has not been seen since – although he has been mentioned a few times on the soap this year.
However, soap fans have been left shocked after ‘spotting David Wicks’ in the background of a recent set photo. In an image shared by the Instagram account, characters Lauren Branning, Bobby Beale and Anna Knight can be seen posing in the bustling Queen Vic.

And sharp-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice how much one of the extras looked like actor Michael French.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to hit the comments section, with one fan blurting out: “Is that David Wicks in the background? Hope he’s coming back to steal Cindy from Ian again.” Another chimed in: “Blue shirt guy behind Anna looks like David French but older. Wicksy return?”

Over on Reddit, another keen observer posted the snap and exclaimed: “Thought they’d leaked David Wicks’ return for a second.” A fellow Redditor responded: “He does look like him a bit haha.”
