EastEnders favourite receives ‘apology’ from neighbour who tried to kill her

This article contains spoilers from the first episode of EastEnders set to air on Thursday (July 4), which has not yet been shown on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) finally received an apology from Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) in recent EastEnders scenes – albeit a lacklustre one.

There has been tension between Eve and Ravi ever since he tried to kill her on dad Nish Panesar’s (Navin Chowdhry) instruction late last year.

Nish discovered Eve’s affair with wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) in dramatic scenes, after finding a video of them kissing on the Minute Mart CCTV.

Suki had been seeing Eve for months, and they had planned on several occasions to leave Walford together, though something always got in their way.

They were about to make another attempt at leaving together when Nish sent Eve a text from Suki’s phone, and drew her to Walford East for a final showdown, where Eve shared every detail of their affair.

In a bid for revenge, Nish instructed Ravi to kill Eve – and he very nearly went through with it.

After a dramatic chase through the woods, Ravi agreed to let Eve go, on the condition that she never return to Albert Square or contact Suki again.

Eventually, Eve returned with a revenge plan of her own, though that was soon foiled by bitter detective Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Months on, the Panesar/Gulati family have been struck with tragedy, with Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) ending up in hospital after taking steroids.

When Eve arrived to support Suki and the family, Ravi was less than receptive, but eventually apologised after Eve pointed out that she cared about Suki’s family.
‘You showing up for him after what I did to you… I’ve got so many regrets…’ Ravi said.

Eve was quick to ask if this was his attempt at an apology for trying to kill her, and he gave her a subtle nod.

With Suki having already forgiven Ravi for his part in Nish’s plot, Eve admitted that she would have to do the same.
