EastEnders favourite left to die after he’s attacked by his grandson

This article contains spoilers for Tuesday’s (25 June) episode of EastEnders, which is already available on BBC iPlayer.

The search for Lola Pearce’s missing charity money took a devastating turn during the latest episode of EastEnders, as Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) was left for dead by a family member.

The pensioner was attacked by grandson Will Mitchell (Freddie Phillips), after he worked out that the teen had pinched the collection at the charity fundraiser to pay off his blackmailers.

Last week, it was revealed Will was being bribed after he was catfished by a school bully, who was threatening to pass on compromising photos that Will believed he’d sent to a girl he was chatting to online.

Having vowed to help him raise the funds after catching him trying to steal out of his mum Honey’s (Emma Barton) purse, Stevie set up an unauthorised stall on the market with Mo Harris (Laila Morse) flogging toasters.

But with the rest of the Square knowing he was desperate for cash, Stevie found himself the first to be accused of pinching the charity money.

Having suspected Will might be responsible, the teen managed to throw his grandfather off the scent by pointing out Gina Knight’s (Francesca Henry) previous drug habit, leading her brother Junior (Micah Balfour) to throw him out of The Vic when he confronted her.

Later witnessing a row between Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Will, Stevie was forced to consider his grandson as the culprit once again, and headed to Number 18 to uncover the truth.

However, as Stevie lost his temper with the youngster, he became scared and shoved his grandad. Falling to the floor, Stevie knocked his head on a piece of furniture, leaving him unconscious.

Horrified by what he’d done, Will fled the scene, leaving Stevie for dead – will he pull through?

Either way, EastEnders fans already know that his secret second family will be arriving on Albert Square later this week – but is it sad news about Stevie that brings them to Walford?
