EastEnders fans rage as show is pulled from BBC Two – just as it was due to air

There was confusion and anger aplenty among EastEnders fans on Thursday (July 4), when the latest offerings of the BBC One soap vanished from TV schedules just before they were due to air.

The much-loved BBC One soap, as viewers know, has been a victim of scheduling chaos due to ongoing coverage of both the Euros and Wimbledon, with episodes repeatedly moved to BBC Two.

The iPlayer schedule, which sees episodes drop at 6am from Monday to Thursday, remains unaffected but for those who prefer to watch on TV, episodes have been scattered all over the listings, with double-bills left, right and centre in a bid to ensure the drama stay relatively up to date.

And speaking of double bills, two offerings of the BBC serial were slated for broadcast on Thursday (July 4) evening on BBC Two, but due to coverage of Wimbledon – which occupied both BBC One and BBC Two schedules – EastEnders was pulled at a moments notice.

With seemingly nowhere else left to put it in the TV schedule, the decision was made for the episodes to air as planned – but on BBC Three instead.

But with little fanfare made about the changes, fans were left confused about where EastEnders was when they tuned into BBC Two to get their daily Walford fix.

‘Where’s #eastenders??,’ wrote social media user Rachel on X at the time, while Alessia echoed such a sentiment with an identical tweet of their own.

Eventually, word spread that EastEnders had been moved to BBC Three, but fans certainly weren’t happy about the short notice – not to mention the fact that they’d already missed some of the Albert Square drama.

‘I just missed 20 minutes of #Eastenders,’ vented Natasha. ‘Why was this not announced. Luckily for this app, I found out it was on BBC three.

X user Sharon wasn’t pleased, writing: ‘Set to record #eastenders on bbc2 and you move it to bbc3!!.’ Calum was similarly annoyed: ‘Just discovered my Sky Recordings hasn’t picked up #EastEnders on BBC2 because the @BBC have decided to put it on BBC3.

‘Why have they moved it to another channel again? A TV schedule shambles.’

The episodes in question focused on the conflict between Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) and Nish Panesar’s (Navin Chowdhry) after Priya made it quite clear that she needed to prioritise son Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) after he was rushed to hospital.
