EastEnders fans praise ‘best soap actress’ Angela Wynter and hope for award nomination

Yolande Truman’s (Angela Wynter) devastating abuse by Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) has stuck a chord with EastEnders fans, who have poured praise onto the actress.

Yolande suffered a terrifying ordeal when she was sexually assaulted by Pastor Clayton, and recent episodes have seen her open up about what she went through.

Unfortunately, her hopes of bringing the Pastor to justice were dashed when she was hit with the devastating news that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him.

However, an unexpected visit from Levi (Mark Akintimehin) brings hope that Pastor Clayton might get his comeuppance if his victims fight back.

The latest developments in the storyline see Yolande meet with Delia, who had previously accused Pastor Clayton of a similar crime.

Yolande’s impassioned plea for help bringing the Pastor to justice roused EastEnders viewers, and many have been quick to shower actress Angela Wynter with praise for her performance.

On X (formerly Twitter), @mattFarris said ‘I’ve run out of words to describe how amazing Angela Wynter’s performances on this show are. This is pure soap opera gold.’

Another fan said Angela ‘knocked it out the park’ with her latest performance, while others called it ‘powerful’, ‘outstanding’ and ‘incredible’.

Viewers have been so impressed, in fact, that several have called for Angela to win an award.

@helsby2022 took a strong stance, writing: ‘Phenomenal acting from Angela, if she doesn’t win best actress at the soap awards then eastenders needs to be boycotted’.

Meanwhile, on Reddit, Lnwildeagle85 shared, ‘Angela Wynter (Yolande) has blown me away over the last month or so, showing just how brilliant she is.’

They added: ‘Once the Inside Soap Awards nominations are released next month, Angela will get my vote as Best Actress and I hope Angela Wynter & Rudolph Walker (Patrick) will be nominated for Best Partnership and Single Episode.’
