EastEnders drama as Nugget collapses and faces devastating health news

Next week’s EastEnders will see the young residents of Albert Square preparing for a boxing tournament, but one teen will end up in hospital before the fights even begin.

The alarming incident occurs when Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) provokes Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati, causing him to lose his temper.Nugget is in a hospital dash during next week's EastEnders

As regular viewers of the BBC One soap will know, Nugget (Juhaim Choudhury) recently asked Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) for steroids to enhance his physique after being rejected by Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd).

Denzel has been using the drug for some time in his pursuit to become ‘hench’, regularly sharing his fitness journey on social media.

However, when Tommy and Nugget start fighting, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) intervene, while Denzel tries to calm his friend down before people realise he’s on steroids. Suspecting they’re on drugs, Zack puts up a ‘drugs test’ sign at the Boxing Den, which unnerves gym fanatic Denzel, who doesn’t realise it’s just a deterrent, reports MyLondon.

In other news, Nuggets mum Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) has been making purchases on Suki Panesar’s (Balvinder Sopal) credit card without permission. This prompts a concerned Avani (Aaliyah James) to warn her mother not to jeopardise their situation with reckless behaviour.

Priya impulsively decides to make a dying Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) an offer to secure her family’s future. However, when Denzel fails to show up at the boxing match, Nugget goes looking for him but falls ill and seeks help at No. 41.

Priya and Ravi are devastated when the doctors say his kidneys are not responding and he may need long-term dialysis
Inside, a clueless Priya and Nish are wrapping up their ‘deal’ just as Nugget collapses on the pavement outside. Avani soon storms into the Panesars, interrupting the pair with news of Nugget’s collapse.

Elsewhere, after a motivational chat from Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), Denzel heads to his tournament and wins his match, oblivious to Nugget’s peril. Nugget is whisked off to hospital where Priya and Ravi are distraught, but are soon taken aback when they receive an update about their son’s condition.

In the waiting room, Dr Miller informs Nugget’s family that his kidneys aren’t functioning properly and questions if he’s been using drugs, which they deny.

However, Ravi pulls Dr Miller aside to voice Zack’s suspicions about steroids. Ravi and Priya start bickering over their parenting failures but end up leaning on each other for support.

But Priya is left reeling when Dr Miller returns to confirm that Ravi was right – Nugget has been using steroids.

Later in the week, Nugget regains consciousness but the nightmare isn’t over. Priya and Ravi are heartbroken when the doctors reveal his kidneys are not responding and he may require long-term dialysis.

The police also show up and pressure Nugget to admit who supplied the drugs, but he remains silent. When alone with Priya, Nish reminds her of their agreement.

Back on Albert Square, Denzel is left in shock after hearing about Nugget’s condition and begins to panic. Howie (Delroy Atkinson) starts a search for his son, leading Denzel to take refuge at The Boxing Den, where Zack discovers him.

With Nugget’s health hanging by a thread – will he pull through? And will he confess that Denzel has been supplying him with steroids?
