EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has dropped the first hints about this Christmas’ storylines – and it looks like a lot of focus will be on the Mitchells.
The BBC soap aired quite the dramatic festive season last year with The Six flashforward storyline, which built up over the course of 2023 before the mysterious male victim and their killer were unveiled at the end of the year.
The executive producer has now teased some of what to expect this year, suggesting the recent arrival of new Mitchells may play a role in their festive plans.

“Christmas is well underway. In the story office there is a board and it all connects,” Clenshaw told The Mirror. “I compare it to a tapestry board, everything has to fit together.
“We’ve got the new Mitchells coming in that will stir some trouble up. And as we head through into the autumn and the end of the year, we’ve got quite a few treats coming up.”
Fans will know that Stevie Mitchell’s estranged son Teddy recently arrived on Albert Square alongside his sons Harry and Barney, as Billy learns that Teddy is his half-brother.
The latest twist in the storyline will see Stevie share a big death secret with Billy after Phil reveals evidence against him.
Elsewhere, Clenshaw has teased some potential character returns for the show’s 40th anniversary next year.
“As we head towards our 40th year, I think the nostalgic element means a lot,” he told The Sun.
Asked if character returns could be in store, he added: “Maybe. It all depends on the story and where the characters are. But it has to come from character, it has to come from story.
