Craig fears the worst as he makes unexpected new enemy after shocking arrest in Coronation Street

There are quite a few police officers in Coronation Street these days. There’s DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), of course, who’s very much made her presence felt since she became a permanent character in Corrie, with viewers recently introduced also to her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin).

There’s Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), Bernie Winters (Jane Hazlegrove)’ long lost son and brother to twins Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash). And there’s Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who’s been a copper on the cobbles since 2016.

Colson Smith returned to Weatherfield earlier this year after a successful appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, where he finished third. He was pitched straight back in to filming.

‘I’m so buzzing to be back playing Craig Tinker on the streets of Weatherfield because there’s someone who’s got to keep them safe, isn’t there? That’s me, and I’m back,’ the actor posted on Instagram.

In upcoming episodes, things are not plain sailing for Craig, as it looks as though he’s made an enemy from within his own ranks.

He tells Beth (Lisa George) that he’s clashed with colleague Kit Green. He tells her about the shoplifting incident, when Gemma Winter was arrested for stealing shoes for her daughter Carys.

This incident was smoothed over by Kit after Bernie appealed to him for help. Kit agreed to get involved, even though at the time Gemma was unaware that he was actually her brother.

It was recently revealed that Kit was Bernie’s long-lost son Zodiac, who later changed his name to Christopher Green.

By chance, it turned out that the new police officer DS Swain had brought in to help with the Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) case was called Christopher Green – though he shortened his first name to Kit – and he soon realised that he was Bernie’s son.

Craig didn’t know of this connection between the Winters family and Kit, but Kit recently revealed to Beth that he was Gemma and Paul’s brother and Bernie was his mum, as he now seems ready to embrace his new-found family – or his siblings, at least.

Will Beth advise Craig to keep his head down as far as Kit is concerned?
