Coronation Street star Lorna Laidlaw is said to have left her role as Aggie Bailey, after landing a new acting role.
The actor has played Aggie in the ITV soap since 2019, but she hasn’t been seen on screen since last June.
In the show, her character’s absence was first explained by her long hours working as a nurse at the hospital.

But in more recent months, Aggie has said to have been caring for a sick relative in Birmingham, which is why she has been missing from Weatherfield.
It was thought that Laidlaw’s absence might be a long-term one after her husband Ed’s gambling addiction relapsed once again and he went to extreme lengths as he got deeper into financial trouble.
Michael and Dee-Dee encouraged their dad to come clean to Aggie while he visited her in Birmingham, and when he returned from his trip, he revealed that she wanted a divorce.

Now The Sun has reported that Laidlaw has officially left her Corrie role and says that she has no plans to return.
The site has also reported that Laidlaw has landed her first role since leaving the Cobbles, as she has joined the cast of Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder.
Digital Spy have reached out to Coronation Street, but they have not yet commented on this report.
The murder mystery series, which earlier this year was renewed for two more seasons, stars ex Corrie stars Catherine Tyldesley and Shayne Ward, as well as Claire Sweeney, who currently plays Cassie Plummer in the show.

Ross Adams, who plays Scott Drinkwell in Hollyoaks, is also set to join the series, in his first role since leaving the soap.
The report reads: “Lorna is a hugely talented actress and it’s a great gig to land. The show films in beautiful Malta and the cast and crew are a tight knit group so it’s a really great atmosphere to work in.”
During the pandemic, Aggie disappeared from screens for a few months, because Laidlaw was protecting her vulnerable mum who was shielding.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
