Emrhys Cooper has reportedly quit Coronation Street after seven months.
The actor, 39, turned up in Weatherfield as twisted cult leader Rowan Cunliffe earlier this year. But his stint in the ITV soap reportedly isn’t going to be a long one and he “will be saying goodbye to the cobbles” at some point.
So far no end date for the baddie has been announced. But it seems that actor Emrhys does have a role in a panto lined up this Christmas.

A source explained that while the star has been “a great addition” to the soap, the fact that he is playing an evil villain means “his story always had a beginning, a middle and an end” and that he won’t be roaming the street forever. However, the drama could be ramping up before he goes.

Nobody knows what havoc he could wreak next. But the insider told The Sun: “Rowan’s going to get even worse over the next few months and the story’s nowhere near its ending just yet but he will be saying goodbye to the cobbles. The question is whether he gets his comeuppance or how many more lives he destroys before he leaves?”
Rowan has been a seriously dark addition to the cobbles, with the charismatic cult leader grooming Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and drawing her into The Institute. Tense scenes saw him tricking her into revealing her deepest secrets – which he then taped for his own nefarious purposes.
However, the actor’s next role looks set to be altogether lighter, as he will be joining a production of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves for the festive season. Emrhys will play Prince Frederick in the panto, which will be at St Helen’s Theatre Royal in St Helen’s over the festive season.
