Casualty dropped by BBC One tonight in another TV shake-up

Popular medical drama Casualty is being moved around in the TV schedules yet again this weekend. The BBC is shifting its prime-time Saturday night programmes from BBC One to BBC Two as it makes way for Olympics coverage.

It means that Casualty will be aired instead on BBC Two at 8.10pm on Saturday, August 10. Last week, the official Casualty Instagram site issued a reminder to fans about the changes.

It came ahead of what viewers dubbed “the saddest episode ever” when Doctor Dylan Keogh, played by William Beck, was confronted with heartbreak upon discovering that his dog Dervla was suffering from cancer, leading to a poignant turn of events.

The episode opened with Dylan at the veterinary clinic, where he described Dervla’s symptoms and was told by the vet they should cease treatment and focus on her comfort.

Despite this, Dylan insisted on further tests and any possible measures to save his beloved dog. Throughout the episode, Dylan’s thoughts were consumed with worry for Dervla, so much so that he overlooked signs that one of his patients had been assaulted.

Casualty first aired in 1986 and has become a fixture of Saturday night television, leading to the creation of the spin-off, Holby City, in 1999.
