BBC EastEnders announcement as soap pulled off air entirely before double bill

It’s been a turbulent time for soap fans who have had to navigate an ever-changing schedule and channel hopping over the last couple of weeks as BBC and ITV bosses make way for the coverage of the general election and the Euros 2024 tournament.

EastEnders usually airs from Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One, however, in recent weeks it has aired slightly earlier, been moved to a slot on BBC Two, or has been removed from the schedules entirely as sporting fixtures taking over the airwaves.

Sadly, those hoping to tune into the ongoing drama in Albert Square on Monday, July 1, will be left disappointed as the soap has been taken out of the television schedule entirely on both Monday and Tuesday, July 2. This is due to Wimbledon, which kicks off on BBC One at 2pm and continues all the way through to 6pm, causing more disruption to the schedules.

At 7:30pm, BBC will then air the Portugal v Slovenia game which kicks off in Germany at 8pm. However, it’s not all bad news, as EastEnders has announced that BBC Two will air double bills of the show on Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4.

What’s more, as many EastEnders fans will know, the soap also drops all episodes on BBC iPlayer at 6am, so you can still watch the show at your leisure Monday to Thursday. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the official EastEnders Twitter account wrote: “We have a double bill of #EastEnders this Wednesday and Thursday on @BBCTwo, or watch now on @BBCiPlayer.”

Responding, one fan wrote: “Thank God for iPlayer otherwise I’d hate football even more,” while another added: “Wow We have a double bill of #EastEnders this Wednesday and Thursday on @BBCTwo.”
