BBC Casualty star ‘confirms’ Faith Cadogan and Iain’s future after addiction drama
Casualty star Kirsty Mitchell, who plays Faith Cadogan in the long-running BBC medical drama has teased what lies ahead for her character and paramedic Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson). The fan-favourite couple were torn apart when she became addicted to drugs and then her daughter Natalia Malinovsky (Zoe Brough) subsequently developed a crush on Iain which further complicated the situation.

However, having overcome her addiction Faith is now back on the wards trying to get her life back together. Speaking exclusively to in advance of the latest episode which sees relations thawing between the pair as they go for a drink she teased that there is hope for the former couple.

“I think they’re always gonna gravitate back towards each other,” she admitted. “I think you there’s so much unsaid and there’s so much between them but obviously addiction gets in the way.

“And I think the fact that she’s got everything together for herself and hopefully for her family makes it feel like she can go back to him. She’s obviously had words with her daughter and she realises everything that happened and that she overreacted and so she’s apologised for that.”

The spirit of Natalia looms large after the teen developed an unhealthy feeling for Iain. Faith was devastated when he confessed that she had made more than one pass at him and Kirsty admits that is something that needs a proper discussion before they could reunite properly.

“I definitely think that it’ll come up with them,” she pondered. “And then you’d have to have a really in-depth conversation about that and you’d have to sit down with her if they got back together and sort everything out,” she acknowledged.

“We haven’t shot stuff like that but Michael [Stevenson] and I have talked about it and I don’t know if something like that will surface in the future.A nurse standing over a hospital bed looking at a patient

“I definitely think it would be something that the audience would like to be seen dealing with because I’m sure there are families that have dealt with things like this and it must just feel sickening and painful and horrible for everybody. I can’t imagine what that would be like to deal with because I don’t have a teenage daughter.

“I think that’s something that when we get to the family stages with them and see what happens it’ll be it’ll be definitely really interesting to shoot to see where they’re going and how we’re going to address that,” she said.

“I think it will be something that we’ll address because there’s a lot to look at going forward and obviously Ian’s commitment issues and all of these things in your going into a family with three kids.

“Michael and I are very conscious of making sure that we show them why they’re [where they are] and the bond that they have and how much fun they have together. We’re kind of really focusing on that.

“But I’m very interested to see where that story does go because we haven’t got anything to do with that.”
