7– and viewers will have the chance to help solve the mystery through flashback scenes which will air over a period of several weeks.
As police officer Kit Green leads the investigation, fans will soon discover just how many characters are under suspicion over Joel’s death as the soap airs a series of flashbacks to the night of September 27, when the villain was last seen.
The soap will air its first flashback scenes in tomorrow’s episode (October 16), as the suspects begin to be lined up for the show’s “very own crime wall photo”.
As the episode unfolds, the first dramatic flashbacks will return us to the night when Joel disappeared, as the first two suspects are officially revealed – Ronnie Bailey and Mason Radcliffe.
Ronnie has already shown signs of potential guilt after he had a suspicious conversation with his brother Ed in which he said they should “keep our mouths shut” about the situation.
The pair had already confronted Joel about his treatment of Ed’s daughter (and Ronnie’s niece) Dee-Dee Bailey.
Dee-Dee was engaged to Joel before his crimes were revealed – did Ronnie go further and take revenge against Joel?
Meanwhile, Mason has so far not been directly involved in Joel’s storyline, but his possession of a crowbar has put him under suspicion.
He’s also been sneaking into Speed Daal late at night in the past few weeks, including on the night that Joel disappeared.
As the evidence mounts, Kit is pulled in different directions as he tries to uncover the truth, while Lisa Swain also continues to investigate despite being taken off the case.
With more twists and flashbacks to come, will Joel’s killer be caught – and who was responsible for his murder?
