Emmerdale Samson Dingle actor teases emotional exit and addresses huge return twist

Emmerdale’s Sam Hall has teased fans with a hint of a possible exit for his character Samson Dingle.

The actor shared his eagerness to stick around in the village after nearly 20 years and dropped hints about a gut-wrenching goodbye that could be on the cards after some major plot twists.

He discussed how might vanish and if viewers should hold their breath for his return. Earlier this year, it was reported Samson might be killed off in a juicy storyline, but Hall was quick to squash those death whispers while leaving the door open for an exit.

Then came the bombshell that Samson would get tangled up in a hair-raising stabbing drama, which he walked away from, only to pin the blame on Matty Barton.

With the truth set to explode in forthcoming episodes, Samson is skating on thin ice, hinting at a potential stint behind bars. Hall’s cryptic words have sent the rumour mill into overdrive about what’s next for Samson in Emmerdale, reports the Express.

He revealedr: “[There’s] the emotional side of dealing with the fact that for a couple of years, he won’t be seeing his dad or his step-mum who is like his real mum, and that has an affect on him.”

This speculative statement throws a shadow of uncertainty over Samson’s future in the soap. Matty’s family and several Dingles have turned their backs on him and his father, Sam, due to the lie about the stabbing incident.

Even Lydia Dingle, his stepmother, is at odds with the pair over the truth, hinting at a potential rift between her and Sam. However, spoilers for the upcoming week suggest that after a brief escape, Samson might end up running away for good as his lies escalate into a police matter. After all, Samson does confess at the station what he did – but will he face repercussions for his part in the cover-up and the actual events at the Hop that day?

Meanwhile, James Hooton, who portrays Sam, disclosed his character’s rage as he tries to aid his son’s escape only to find out he’s confessed. He revealed: “He feels initially betrayed by the fact Lydia has made him do the right thing which is confess that things aren’t what they were originally told and words are said.”

“Sam says something along the lines of ‘I’ll never forgive you for this’ but essentially it’s all water under the bridge as soon as Sam manages to get his brain into gear and he realises she has made Samson do the right thing in the long run.”

“Sam is only thinking short term for his son not to end up in jail and Sam many years ago did the same thing and ran away from taking responsibility for his actions so he sees it as a way to do things but essentially he realises Lydia has got this covered and got Samson to do the right thing and I think they will be fine over time.”

Meanwhile, Karen Blick, who portrays Lydia, also opened up about the potential exit of Samson. She told us: “I don’t think Lydia fully understands what that will mean; if it means a prison sentence, will it be a relatively short prison sentence? He’s a clever lad, he’ll be able to come back out and put his life back together.”
